Reading Rockets

The Denver Public Library has been using bookmobiles to extend the reach of their services for over 70 years. Janus Capital Group, our client and ardent advocate of public education in Denver, recognized an out-of-this-world opportunity. Enter the Reading Rockets, a new generation of bookmobiles powered by biodiesel,

handicap-accessible, with two computer stations and able to hold up to 3,000 books, CDs and DVDs. Colorful and space-themed, we designed these two libraries-on-the-go to capture imaginations and encourage lifelong reading and learning. Combined they have enriched the lives of over 73,000 Denver students.

The Reading Rockets create a lot of buzz on the streets of Denver and are frequently invited to pull up at community events.

The two Reading Rockets visit 26 schools and 15 community sites, selected to serve those in the city who are least likely to access a public library on their own. Currently, over 5,100 students are registered with Reading Rocket cards.
